We have represented leading global biotech MNC/ Association of Indian seed companies/ Agricultural Universities before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India/ various High Courts in various Writ Petitions (Public Interest Litigations)/ before Appellate Authority wherein the introduction of biotechnology in India was challenged under the Environment Protection Act, 1986. The petitions also dealt with the adequacy of the statutory guidelines concerning GM crops in India particularly in consequence of the Cartagena Protocol, implementation of the conditions of commercial approval of genetically engineered crops/ seeds. We have advised clients on the regulatory compliances under the provisions of the Environment Protection Act and the rules framed there-under. Our views as legal expert were sought on the National Biotechnology Regulatory Authority (NBRA) Bill, 2008. The proposed legislation would regulate the research, manufacture, importation and use of products of modern biotechnology.
We are advising clients on the issues involved with the introduction of GM food (Bt Brinjal, Bt Rice etc) in India and regulatory approvals in respect thereof.
We are advising clients on the issues arising under the Biological Diversity Act, 2002 and regulatory compliances there-under.
